Regular groups on Tuesday, no group on Thursday, back to normal schedule next week!
This week we are making a coat of arms, complete with a motto. Mine is "Keep things simple and don't be a jerk." Here is some advice on how to not be a jerk.
How to stop being a jerk:
1. Admit you are not perfect, learn from past situations in which you wish you;d acted differently. The image above is a social story that one of the kids in group drew to process a difficult interaction he had.
2. Take the perspective of others. If you need help figuring out what to do next, put yourself in someone else's shoes and try to anticipate their feelings. If this doesn't work, ask.
3. Act with compassion and kindness. It's the little things. Smile, hold a door, give a compliment. These small acts cost nothing but bring a huge return.
4. Practice, practice. Kindness is deeds, not thoughts.
